Israel launched airstrikes on Lebanon in retaliation for a rocket attack, killing six people in the heaviest exchange of fire since the ceasefire with Hezbollah began. The ceasefire sparked concern about its stability, especially after Israel resumed hostilities with Hamas in Gaza. Hezbollah denied responsibility for the attack and stated its commitment to the truce. Israel targeted Hezbollah bases in Lebanon, killing five people in a village and one person in a garage in Tyre. Lebanon’s Prime Minister called for necessary measures to prevent war from escalating. The conflict escalated after Hamas’ attack from Gaza ignited a war, resulting in thousands of deaths in Lebanon and displacement in Israel. Israeli forces were supposed to withdraw from Lebanon under the ceasefire agreement, but remain in five locations. The UN called for de-escalation and urged parties to avoid jeopardizing progress. Israel also carried out airstrikes in Gaza in response to Hamas holding hostages, resulting in casualties, including children. A young boy lost his family in an airstrike and mourned with his uncle. Israel planned further assaults in Gaza, warning residents to evacuate. Netanyahu’s advisor stated that Hamas understands military pressure.
