Almost 90% of ready-to-eat popcorn snacks in the UK are considered unhealthy due to high levels of sugar and salt, leading to new advertising restrictions starting in October. Action on Salt and Sugar found that many popular snacks exceed government regulations for fat, salt, and sugar content, putting consumers at risk for obesity and related health issues. The group is urging companies to reformulate their products to meet healthier standards, while calling on the government to enforce mandatory targets to protect public health.
