CHESHIRE, Conn. – Cheshire High School sophomore Jenica Matos, who is legally blind due to Stargardt disease, excelled in softball, throwing three no-hitters last season, including one against archrival Southington High School in the Class LL State Championship semifinals, where she struck out 13 batters in a 4-0 win. Although Cheshire lost the championship game to Fairfield Ludlowe in 10 innings, Matos delivered another impressive performance with 16 strikeouts. Despite her vision challenges, Matos continues to thrive on the field, showcasing her competitive spirit and talent as a pitcher.
