Christchurch’s new Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre, which opened on December 17, has faced challenges with its hydroslides, recording 33 incidents in the first month. These incidents included 22 cuts, seven bruises, and four riders getting stuck. Overall, the centre has logged 163 incidents, with the council classifying an “incident” as any situation that requires first aid or staff intervention. The $500 million facility continues to operate amid these safety concerns.
