Alberta’s Rat Control Program
Twice a year, a patrol team inspects various locations, including barns, straw bales, and grain storage bins, along a 600-kilometre stretch of the Alberta-Saskatchewan boundary in search of rats. This ongoing effort is part of a 75-year mission to prevent these rodents from establishing a presence in Alberta. The program, which began in the 1950s with the help of Napoleon Poulin, aims to maintain the province’s rat-free status.
