Juan Pablo Serrano, a fugitive wanted in connection with a significant 2019 data breach at Desjardins affecting 9.7 million members, was arrested in Spain on November 7, 2024. His capture resulted from a collaborative operation involving the Sûreté du Québec, Spanish authorities, and Interpol. Serrano faces charges including fraud, identity theft, and computer-related mischief and will be extradited to Canada. His arrest follows a 17-month pursuit since the breach was initially investigated.
