Labour has announced a targeted capital gains tax, with proceeds aimed at enhancing the health sector, allowing Kiwis three free doctor’s visits annually through a Medicard distributed at birth or upon residency. Leader Chris Hipkins specified that the tax will only apply to commercial and residential property sales, exempting the family home and several personal assets, affecting only about 10% of property owners.
