A cross-party group of MPs has warned that proposed reforms to England’s failing social care system will fail without a solid financial justification, following a review by Baroness Louise Casey. The House of Commons health committee highlighted the lack of data on current system costs, urging the government to assess the financial impacts of inaction, including the costs of delayed hospital discharges. The report emphasized the urgent need for meaningful reforms, as the existing system incurs an annual £32bn bill, placing additional strain on local authorities and unpaid carers.
