Shark takes 9kg snapper from young fisherman in Northland

A young angler, 18-year-old Koby Hokai, thought he had caught a large snapper while fishing off Ninety Mile Beach, Northland, but unexpectedly lost it to a shark. After reeling in the fish for nearly a minute, he was left with only the fish’s head and his hook, which he later found bobbing in the surf.
