British authorities have charged three Iranian nationals—Mostafa Sepahvand, Farhad Javadi Manesh, and Shapoor Qalehali Khani Noori—with assisting a foreign intelligence service, marking a significant development in a counter-intelligence investigation into Iranian activities in the UK. The charges, stemming from actions between August 2024 and February 2025, include additional accusations against Sepahvand for surveillance with intent to commit serious violence, as part of a broader counterterrorism operation that led to eight arrests on May 3. The UK’s National Security Act 2023, which enhances law enforcement’s powers against foreign threats, facilitated these arrests, though the Iranian government has yet to comment.
