A massive explosion at Shahid Rajaee Port in southern Iran on Saturday killed at least 25 people and injured around 800 others, with fires still burning the following day. The explosion, linked to a fire at a hazardous materials depot, was reportedly caused by sodium perchlorate, a missile fuel ingredient. Authorities have declared three days of mourning, closed schools in the area, and while the incident is currently treated as an accident, it coincides with ongoing tensions and talks regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
