Gunmen in Mali attacked a convoy of vehicles escorted by the army, killing 25 civilians, mostly gold miners, near Gao, the largest city in the country’s northeast. The assailants targeted a convoy of 60 vehicles, with soldiers assisting victims and transferring wounded to the hospital. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but various armed groups in the area, including ISIS and al-Qaeda-linked JNIM, are hostile to Mali’s military regime.
