Uzbekistan to support Gaza reconstruction, says president

At the first Board of Peace meeting in Washington, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced Uzbekistan’s readiness to contribute to the reconstruction of residential buildings, schools, and hospitals in the Gaza Strip. He emphasized the importance of creating a favorable environment for economic recovery in Gaza and highlighted the international solidarity reflected in the summit. Mirziyoyev expressed optimism about building a thriving Gaza post-conflict, linking the initiative to US President Donald Trump’s political will. Since the onset of Israel’s war in Gaza on October 8, 2023, there have been over 72,000 Palestinian fatalities and extensive damage to infrastructure.
