Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah announced that oil production reached its highest level in 12 years at 1.37 million barrels per day during the Libya Energy and Economy Summit (LEES) 2026. He highlighted new oil field developments and the country’s first exploration licensing round in 17 years, attracting international interest. Upcoming agreements will modify contracts with TotalEnergies and ConocoPhillips, involving over $20 billion in investments, alongside a cooperation pact with Chevron and Egypt. Libya, an OPEC member, ranks among the top ten countries in proven oil reserves and aims to integrate renewable energy into its national mix.
