A senior Hamas official, Taher al-Nunu, welcomed the removal of former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair from the “Gaza Peace Council,” citing his bias towards Israel. Al-Nunu stated that Hamas is open to a long-term truce if Israel commits to a complete ceasefire and emphasized that the movement’s weapons are integral to a future Palestinian state’s defense, rejecting any proposals for international disarmament forces. He also indicated readiness to transfer Gaza’s administration to an independent national committee. Al-Nunu warned that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ambitions threaten regional stability.
