Saudi Arabia and Qatar announced a significant agreement to construct a high-speed electric rail link between Riyadh and Doha during a meeting of the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council in Riyadh, attended by Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The two nations highlighted a 634% increase in bilateral trade, reaching $930.3 million in 2024, and underscored the importance of enhancing economic cooperation aligned with their 2030 national visions. The rail project, connecting Riyadh via Dammam and Al-Hofuf, aims to boost tourism, trade, and mobility. Additionally, several agreements in various sectors, including investment and food security, were signed during the visit.
