Nearly 9,300 children under five in Gaza were diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition in October, according to UNICEF, which warned that high malnutrition levels threaten children’s lives amid worsening winter conditions. The agency highlighted the urgent need for humanitarian aid, as many displaced families lack proper shelter and supplies, with a recent storm damaging 22,000 tents. UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell called for expedited humanitarian access through all crossings. The ongoing humanitarian crisis follows a two-year conflict that has resulted in nearly 70,000 deaths, predominantly among women and children.
