Jonathan Pollard
Former US Navy intelligence analyst Jonathan Pollard, convicted of espionage for Israel, met with American ambassador Mike Huckabee at the US Embassy in Jerusalem in July, marking his first visit to a US diplomatic facility since his 2015 release. Pollard, who was sentenced to life in prison in 1985, is now a supporter of the Israeli right and plans to run for the Knesset. His case raises ongoing concerns about US-Israel relations and intelligence sharing, with criticism aimed at Huckabee for the meeting. The US State Department declined to comment, while Pollard remains unrepentant about his actions.
