France says no one can dictate Paris’ position on recognizing Palestinian state – Middle East Monitor

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot emphasized that France’s stance on recognizing a Palestinian state will not be dictated by others, urging the Israeli government under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to cease its brutal force in Gaza and pursue diplomacy for a ceasefire. Barrot noted that such force has not led to the release of hostages or disarmament of Hamas and called for humanitarian aid access. His comments follow Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar’s criticism of France’s recognition of a Palestinian state, warning it would reward terrorism and empower Hamas.
