Pakistan has warned that any Indian efforts to divert water flow under the Indus Waters Treaty would be deemed an act of war, following India’s suspension of the treaty after a deadly attack in Kashmir. In response, Pakistan has suspended the 1972 Simla Agreement, closed the Wagah border, halted trade with India, and restricted airspace for Indian airlines. Islamabad emphasized that water is essential for its population and rejected India’s unilateral treaty suspension, stating that it would hold all bilateral agreements until India ceases alleged terrorism and adheres to international law regarding Kashmir.
