Israel’s Economy and Industry Minister Nir Barkat firmly rejected the creation of a Palestinian state and a single, democratic state in the region, advocating instead for a fragmented ‘Emirates model’ of Palestinian autonomy alongside Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
