2 killed in Mississippi National Guard helicopter crash

Two Mississippi National Guardsmen lost their lives in a helicopter crash on Friday afternoon, as confirmed by the governor of Mississippi.

The crash involved an AH-64 Apache helicopter and occurred near Booneville, Mississippi, at around 2 p.m. local time, according to a news release from the Mississippi National Guard State Aviation Office.

Safety crews were on site working alongside local authorities following the crash.

“Mississippi will always be grateful for their service and we will never forget them,” expressed Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves on social media.

Booneville is situated in the northeast corner of the state, near the borders of Alabama and Tennessee.
