2 Americans Held in Afghanistan Are Freed in Prisoner Swap

The Biden administration secured the release of two Americans, Ryan Corbett and William Wallace McKenty, in a prisoner swap with the Taliban for Khan Mohammed, who was imprisoned in the U.S. on narcotics charges. Corbett, known for his publicized case, returned to Afghanistan to assist his business before being captured, while McKenty’s identity was kept private at his family’s request. The U.S. also sought to free George Glezmann and Mahmood Habibi, who remain captive, but were unsuccessful in including them in the exchange.
