In northern Mali, at least 18 people were killed in an airstrike by the Malian army targeting armed militants, according to the Tuareg separatist group Collective for the Defence of the Rights of the Azawad People. The army claimed to have killed 11 “terrorists” in the strike, while the separatist group denounced it as a “barbaric act” and a “flagrant human rights violation.” The conflict in Mali, worsened by military coups and the involvement of Russian mercenaries, continues to escalate with accusations of civilian targeting and violence.
