Government Appoints Seven New Secretary-Level Officers

On Thursday, the Indian government appointed seven new secretary-rank officers, including Neeraj Mittal as the new petroleum secretary. Mittal, a 1992-batch IAS officer, replaces Pankaj Jain, who becomes member secretary of the Eighth Pay Commission. Other notable appointments include Amit Agrawal as telecom secretary and Atish Chandra as officer on special duty in agriculture, set to take over in February. Additionally, Sunil Paliwal was named chairman of the Inland Waterways Authority of India.
