Suicide has been one of the leading causes of death among young Indians (ages 15-29) for the past two decades, representing 17.1% of deaths in this age group from 2020-2022. While women had a higher suicide rate (18.2%) compared to men (16.3%), the overall risk remains alarming, as it is the most significant danger faced by youth, followed by road accidents.
