Pro-Kannada group Karnataka Rakshana Vedike protested against Kamal Haasan’s film ‘Thug Life’ in Bengaluru due to his controversial remarks about the origin of the Kannada language, led by Praveen Shetty. The group threatened theatre owners, which prompted the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce to impose a statewide ban on the film’s release. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah condemned Haasan’s statement, but the actor refused to apologize, further escalating the tensions surrounding the incident.
