A prophecy from Japanese manga artist Ryo Tatsuki, dubbed the “New Baba Vanga,” has led to a sharp decline in travel bookings to Japan, particularly among East Asian tourists, due to fears of a catastrophic natural disaster predicted for July 2025. Her updated book, The Future I Saw, gained viral traction as it forecasts a large-scale disaster involving a tsunami “three times larger” than the 2011 event, impacting Japan and surrounding regions. As a result, travel agencies report significant booking cancellations and shifts in tourist preferences toward alternative destinations, highlighting the psychological effects of such predictions.
