Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai Appointed as 52nd Chief Justice of India
NEW DELHI: Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai has been appointed the 52nd Chief Justice of India, succeeding Justice Sanjiv Khanna, and is set to take the oath of office on May 14, administered by President Droupadi Murmu. Born on November 24, 1960, in Amravati, Justice Gavai began his legal career in 1985 and has extensive experience in Constitutional and Administrative Law, serving as a judge in various capacities, including at the Bombay High Court and the Supreme Court since May 24, 2019. His distinguished career includes roles as Government Pleader, Public Prosecutor, and representing various institutions in legal matters.
