Waqf bill protest in Bengal

Kolkata’s Murshidabad district saw sharp clashes between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and BJP over ongoing violence, with TMC accusing the BJP of instigating unrest to further its agenda while BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari called for President’s rule, citing a breakdown of law and order. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh criticized the protests as disruptive and politically motivated, asserting that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would ensure no harmful provisions of the waqf law would be enforced in Bengal. As tensions rise, Banerjee plans to meet community elders to address the situation on April 16.
