When Steve Jobs explained to Barack Obama why iPhones can’t be made in US

US President Donald Trump is pushing for domestic manufacturing through tariffs, affecting tech giants like Apple, which still relies on China for iPhone production despite moving some operations to India and Vietnam. During a 2011 dinner with President Obama, Steve Jobs stated that such manufacturing jobs wouldn’t return to the U.S., citing reasons like scale, speed, and skill in overseas factories. In response to tariffs, Apple airlifted 600 tons of iPhones from India to mitigate financial impacts just before their implementation.
