On Saturday, India and Sri Lanka signed seven MoUs covering various sectors like defence, energy, digital infrastructure, health, and trade, as PM Narendra Modi received a warm welcome in Colombo as the first foreign leader hosted by the Dissanayaka government. Modi was honored with Sri Lanka’s highest civilian award, Mithra Vibhushana, for his efforts in strengthening the ties between the two nations. The agreements focus on joint maritime surveillance, military exercises, UPI payment system implementation, renewable energy trade, and projects to enhance people-to-people ties and infrastructure development.
