India and Russia commenced the six-day naval exercise ‘Indra’ off Chennai, featuring Russian ships Pechanga, Rezkiy, and Aldar Tsydenzhapov, along with Indian warships Rana, Kuthar, and aircraft P8l. The exercise comprises a harbour phase from March 28 to 30 in Chennai and a ‘sea phase’ from March 31 to April 2 in the Bay of Bengal, demonstrating the enduring strategic partnership between the two navies. With a focus on enhancing naval interoperability, the sea phase will include advanced drills like tactical manoeuvres, live weapon firings, anti-air operations, and helicopter cross-deck landings.
