Russia's Putin launches nuclear-powered submarine

On Thursday, President Vladimir Putin launched a nuclear-powered submarine from the Arctic port of Murmansk, equipped with hypersonic Zircon missiles capable of traveling at several times the speed of sound. The submarine, named Perm, is the first nuclear-powered vessel to have Zircon missiles as a standard feature, with a range of 900 km and exceptional speed making them difficult to defend against. This launch marks the sixth submarine in Russia’s Yasen and Yasen-M classes, constructed by the Sevmash shipyard near Murmansk.
