India, Italy hold deliberations to expand military ties

India and Italy recently held a two-day meeting in Rome to discuss expanding military cooperation, specifically in capability development, as part of their efforts to boost bilateral defence ties. The meeting, which took place during the 13th edition of the India-Italy Military Cooperation Group, also involved a review of the overall situation in the Indo-Pacific region. This meeting follows the unveiling of a five-year strategic action plan by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to enhance cooperation in key areas like defence and security, marking a significant step towards closer military-focused collaboration between the two countries.
