This Large Phased Array Radar (LPAR) significantly boosts Beijing’s surveillance capabilities, allowing it to track missile tests from India’s testing site off the Odisha coast, prompting concerns from Indian security agencies about China’s intelligence advantage. The radar, under the command of ‘Base 37’ of the People’s Liberation Army Aerospace Force, operates with AI technology and extends China’s surveillance reach to the Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal.
