Defence ministry looking at steps to lease land to monetise assets; services' views sought

The defence ministry in New Delhi is exploring ways to better utilize defence land, seeking suggestions for revenue generation and surplus land monetisation from services and stakeholders. With over 17 lakh acres of land allocated for armed forces, efforts are being made to repurpose unused land for public projects, industrial zones, and commercial areas. The government is considering monetizing surplus land to create a modernisation fund, with the aim of generating additional revenue for the armed forces.
