India and Bangladesh have agreed to establish a new communication link between their border-guarding forces and identified 99 new areas for fence erection along their shared border during the recent director general-level talks between the BSF and BGB. The three-day talks, held in New Delhi, were the first high-level meeting between the two forces since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in Bangladesh last year, resulting in the decision to open a new “hotline” for effective communication between the two sides. Additionally, the Indian side successfully convinced Bangladesh about the importance of fencing the remaining unfenced areas of the 4,096-km-long frontier, with a total of 864.48 km still left to be fenced, including 174.51 km of “non-feasible” gaps.

Indian army contingent departs for India-Japan joint military exercise Dharma Guardian
The Indian Army contingent departed for the 6th edition of the India-Japan Joint Military Exercise DHARMA GUARDIAN, scheduled from February 24 to March 9, 2025, in Japan's East Fuji Manoeuvre Training area. The exercise aims to enhance interoperability between the two forces through joint urban warfare and counter-terrorism operations. The Indian contingent, led by troops from the MADRAS Regiment, will work alongside the Japan Ground Self Defence Force to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation. Full Article
