Israeli troops withdrew from all but five points in south Lebanon on Tuesday, allowing displaced residents to return to border villages destroyed in over a year of hostilities. Lebanon considers any Israeli presence on its soil as “occupation” and is prepared to ask the UN Security Council to push Israel to leave. Many residents returned to heavily damaged homes and businesses after a ceasefire ended the clashes on November 27.
