At least 27 Nigerian soldiers were killed in a jihadist suicide attack by Islamic State-affiliated militants in the northeast. The attack took place in a wasteland spanning Borno and Yobe states, where a suicide bomber targeted a convoy of troops with an explosives-laden vehicle. In addition to the fatalities, numerous soldiers sustained critical injuries during the assault.
