After a 15-month conflict triggered by a Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023, a ceasefire and hostage-release deal was reached between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Israeli ambassador Reuven Azar expressed gratitude to New Delhi for supporting Israel’s right to self-defence during the conflict. The agreement is expected to bring an end to the war in Gaza and secure the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
