A new long-range drone acquired by the Navy under emergency financial powers crashed off the Porbandar coast during a trial flight after losing communications. The Hermes 900 drone, rebranded as Drishti 10, was being tested prior to induction by the Indian Navy, with Adani Defence manufacturing the drone. The loss of the drone, valued at ₹145 crore, will not be borne by the Navy as it had not yet been accepted for induction, with the armed forces seeking an Indian solution to meet specific requirements for several hundred drones in this category.
