India has successfully tested its first indigenous micro-missile system, ‘Bhargavastra’, designed to combat swarm drones, with two successful firings at Gopalpur Seaward Firing Ranges. The system, developed for the Army, can detect small drones over 6 km away and hit targets over 2.5 km, showcasing a low-cost option for countering large-scale drone attacks. Capable of firing more than 64 micro missiles, it will be mounted on a mobile platform for quick deployment, with larger trials expected this year for eventual induction into the armed forces.
