Defence Ministry prioritises capabilities after 2024 production and export peaks

In 2024, there was a significant rise in domestic defence production and exports, with the government focusing on boosting capability enhancement of the armed forces. The increased value of indigenous defence production reached ₹1.26 lakh crore, driven by ‘Make in India’ initiatives and a 16.7% growth in defence exports, with contracts being signed with Indian vendors. The armed forces are set to witness major inductions in 2025, including advanced nuclear missile submarines, stealth frigates, and indigenous light combat helicopters, improving combat capability.
