When UN Security Council meetings begin this month, India aims to counter any attempts by Pakistan to internationalize the Kashmir issue with backing from longstanding allies and certain European UNSC members. Pakistan, as a new non-permanent UNSC member, is expected to raise Kashmir and other disputes with India, but New Delhi is relying on support from Russia, France, and the US to thwart these efforts. India also plans to engage with China, as well as coordinate with other non-permanent UNSC members like Algeria, Greece, Denmark, and Slovenia to navigate potential debates over the next two years.
