Approximately 1,946 new recruits from Manipur police battalions and Indian Reserve Battalions participated in a passing-out parade at the Police Academy in Dergaon, Assam, due to the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur. Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh expressed gratitude to Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma for facilitating the training and emphasized the importance of unity among the recruits to restore peace in the state. Assam’s Director General of Police noted improvements in the recruits’ fitness levels during training, despite initial concerns, and highlighted the challenges posed by the recruits’ diverse age range and ethnic backgrounds.
