Israel denies forces operating beyond Syrian buffer zone

The Israel Defense Forces denied reports of soldiers operating beyond the buffer zone along the Israel-Syrian border, with Col. Avichah Adraee clarifying that forces are inside the buffer zone and at defensive points near the border. Israeli forces entered the buffer zone to prevent Syrian rebels from approaching the border, coordinated with UN peacekeepers, and conducted airstrikes on Syrian military facilities and Iranian and Hezbollah sites to prevent weapons smuggling. Israel has also begun outreach efforts to Syrian minorities, such as Druze communities and Syrian Kurds.
