Defence minister Rajnath Singh-led Defence Acquisition Council approved five capital acquisition proposals worth ₹21,772 crore, including the procurement of 31 new water jet fast attack craft and 120 fast interceptor craft for the Indian Navy. The equipment will be primarily manufactured in India and will enhance the Navy’s capabilities for low intensity maritime operations, surveillance, patrol, and search and rescue missions close to the coast. The decision marks a significant step towards modernizing India’s defence infrastructure, with a focus on promoting domestic manufacturing.
