New Delhi’s armed forces are seeking indigenous long-range drones to replace imported systems, with a focus on Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) drones. Economic Explosives Ltd has proposed developing MALE drones, with plans to acquire a smaller initial batch for tri-service usage by the Army, Air Force, and Navy. The company has established a dedicated runway and testing facility for long-range drones, marking a significant step towards achieving self-sufficiency in drone technology.
