New Delhi: An indigenously designed light battle tank developed for high-altitude battlefields like eastern Ladakh will undergo testing by the Army next year. The tank, a joint project between DRDO and L&T, is aimed at meeting the Army’s requirements and plans are in place to fund a project for a futuristic light tank with industry collaboration. Lt Gen Vivek Kashyap, director general of Armoured Corps, announced at the Indian Armour Symposium that two industry partners will develop their own variants based on Army requirements, with the superior system to be selected for larger-scale induction.
